Description

Step into full-frame photography with the Nikon Z5 II mirrorless camera. It boosts your creative options with advanced stills and video features inherited from Nikon’s professional Z series models, while maintaining the familiar comfort and handling of Nikon ergonomics for effortless use.

Creative Full-Frame Upgrade

The Z5 II gives you a full-frame platform designed to help your ideas grow. It delivers powerful features for both photography and video, combined with a user-friendly design that lets you focus on your creativity rather than on the controls.

Full Frame, Full Potential

With the Z5 II, you benefit from the wide Nikon Z mount and a full-frame IBIS (in-body image stabilisation) sensor. This combination enables detailed images with rich depth and more room for composition. You can shoot handheld in almost any lighting condition and with a wide range of lenses. Nikon’s most powerful image-processing engine to date adds speed and smooth operation to every function.

Confident Shooting with a Versatile All-Rounder

The Z5 II combines intelligent autofocus features from Nikon’s flagship Z cameras with strong Vibration Reduction and very high light sensitivity. Together, these systems help you achieve precise, well-focused full-frame images in a wide variety of shooting situations.

Upgraded Autofocus – 68% Faster than the Z5

The autofocus system is a major improvement over the original Z5. Powered by the EXPEED 7 processor and with sensitivity down to –10 EV, AF performance is fast and accurate, even in very low light.¹

Subject Tracking

The Z5 II offers advanced multi-subject recognition with 3D tracking for excellent accuracy. The camera can detect nine different types of subjects, and it also includes a dedicated bird mode for more reliable tracking of birds in motion.

Capturing Fast Action

When photographing fast or unpredictable subjects, the Z5 II supports burst shooting up to 30 frames per second. With Pre-release Capture, the camera can store images just before you fully press the shutter, helping you catch moments that might otherwise be missed.²

Adapting in Real Time

Using AF-A mode, the Z5 II automatically switches between AF-S (for stationary subjects) and AF-C (for moving subjects). This removes the need to manually change focus modes as the scene changes, making it easier to stay in the moment.

Viewing Experience and Handling

The Z5 II is bright, responsive and easy to operate. Whether you are upgrading from the original Z5 or moving to the Nikon Z system for the first time, this full-frame camera feels satisfying and intuitive in use.

Full-Frame Creativity

You can work in a bold cinematic style, a subtle natural look, or anything in between. The Z5 II provides a wide range of powerful yet easy-to-use features for both photo and video, making it simple to experiment with different visual styles.

Imaging Recipes and Colour Presets

You can expand your creative options by importing inspirational colour presets directly from Nikon Imaging Cloud into your Z5 II. These “imaging recipes” from photographers and filmmakers let you quickly apply distinctive looks to your images.

Cinematic Video Capabilities

The Z5 II offers vivid colour, precise autofocus and flexible frame-rate options:

  • Capture fine detail with 4K/30p, or record at up to 4K/60p (with a crop) for smoother motion.

  • Create very smooth slow-motion sequences using Full HD/120p.

N-RAW Recording Direct to SD Card

The Z5 II is the first Z-series camera that can record N-RAW footage directly to an SD memory card. This removes the need for an external recorder and reduces the cost and complexity of your video setup.

N-Log for Colour Grading

If you prefer to colour-grade in post-production, you can record video in N-Log. This preserves a wide dynamic range with more detail in both shadows and highlights, giving you greater flexibility for grading and matching your footage.

Hi-Res Zoom

Hi-Res Zoom can extend your lens reach by up to 2× when shooting Full HD video, with no loss in image quality. This function works with both prime and zoom lenses, allowing you to adjust framing more fluidly without changing lenses.

Additional Information (Performance Notes)

  1. In photo mode, using Single-servo AF (AF-S) with the centre focus point, at ISO 100 equivalent and a temperature of 20 °C (68 °F), with an f/1.2 lens.

  2. Up to 30 fps in [C30] High-Speed Frame Capture+. JPEG-only, fixed to JPEG [normal]. When High-Speed Frame Capture+ is used, the electronic shutter may cause rolling shutter distortion, depending on the subject and shooting conditions.

  3. Up to 7.5 stops of VR at the centre and 6.0 stops at the edges, based on the CIPA 2024 Standard, with yaw/pitch/roll compensation when using the NIKKOR Z 24–120mm f/4 S (telephoto end, NORMAL mode).

  4. Focus Point VR is available only in photo mode when a NIKKOR Z lens without built-in VR is used. It is not effective when multiple focus points are displayed.

  5. Unlimited photo storage on Nikon Imaging Cloud is available for up to 30 days at no charge.

  6. For automatic firmware updates from Nikon Imaging Cloud, the automatic version update setting must be ON, and the camera must be switched off, connected to Wi‑Fi, and in USB power-delivery mode.
