Description
Having all your communication needs plug-and-play ready — that is the leading idea behind the ITAS Iridium Transceiver Antenna System.
The ITAS already has the Iridium 9602 SBD, the Iridium antenna, serial data interface and the power regulation circuit on-board. A M12/8 connector interfaces to the customer hardware.
Designed to communicate Iridium Short Burst Data (SBD) it is possible to send Mobile Originated (MO-SBD) and Mobile Terminated (MT-SBD) messages.
Since there is no RF cable routing outside of the ITAS unit, higher network performance is achieved due to the elimination of RF cable loss.
It is fully qualified and certified to operate through harsh environments.
The ITAS’ simple installation and integration make it optimal for any developer who is facing an accelerated time-to-market requirement. This functionality significantly reduces development time and costs, and makes the ITAS ideal for use in applications for the M2M market, including remote asset tracking and monitoring solutions.
The ITAS standard version's power regulation allows for a supply power range of 8-32VDC . A version tailored to a 5V regulated power supply is also available.
The ITAS' currently available installation options are:
- Screw mount with a short cable pigtail and M12 8pin connector
- Screw mount with an integrated M12 8pin interface
How it Works
The ITAS is a fully functional smart antenna carrying a non-provisioned 9602 SBD Modem. The ITAS is connected to your system using its serial interface with an M12/8pin connector or any other connector choice realized by using a tailored adapter/extension cable. This connection is the communication and power supply interface. Communication between your system and the ITAS uses the standard AT-commands as described for the Iridium 9602 Modem transmitted via the RS232 interface. Provisioning of the device needs to be done by authorized Iridium partners but does not require any SIM-card to be inserted or any opening of the ITAS unit.
