Magus Metal 600 BD Metallurgical Microscope (82897)
The MAGUS Metal 600 BD Metallurgical Microscope is designed for examining specimens in reflected light using brightfield, darkfield, and polarization microscopy. It is intended for the analysis of metal and semiconductor materials, as well as other flat, polished, and highly reflective samples. When operating in transmitted light, the microscope can also be used to study translucent specimens, such as thin films or particles captured on filters. This model is well suited for metallurgical and mechanical engineering applications, quality control and engineering laboratories, and technical universities.

Description
The MAGUS Metal 600 BD Metallurgical Microscope is designed for examining specimens in reflected light using brightfield, darkfield, and polarization microscopy. It is intended for the analysis of metal and semiconductor materials, as well as other flat, polished, and highly reflective samples. When operating in transmitted light, the microscope can also be used to study translucent specimens, such as thin films or particles captured on filters. This model is well suited for metallurgical and mechanical engineering applications, quality control and engineering laboratories, and technical universities.
Optical system
The microscope is equipped with a trinocular head that includes a trinocular tube for mounting a digital camera. A beam splitter directs the light either entirely to the eyepieces or entirely to the camera port, with two selectable positions: 100:0 and 0:100. A diopter adjustment ring is located on the left eyepiece tube to allow individual vision correction.
In the standard configuration, the microscope provides a magnification range of 50× to 400×. This range can be extended with optional objectives and eyepieces. The system uses infinity plan achromatic objectives with a long working distance, optimized for both brightfield and darkfield microscopy. The revolving nosepiece has five objective slots; four objectives are supplied, and one slot remains available for an optional objective. The nosepiece is oriented inward so the user can clearly see which objective is engaged in the optical path.
Illumination system
The microscope uses halogen illumination that produces warm light, reducing eye strain during prolonged observation. The transmitted light illuminator is rated at 30 W, while the reflected light illuminator provides 50 W, ensuring sufficient brightness for comfortable darkfield operation.
The reflected-light illumination system includes a darkfield device, a polarization system, field and aperture diaphragms for Köhler illumination, and a set of color filters. The light source itself can also be centered for precise alignment.
The transmitted-light system features an Abbe condenser with a flip-down lens for low-magnification objectives, along with aperture and field diaphragms for proper Köhler illumination setup.
Stage and focusing mechanism
The specimen moves together with the two-axis mechanical stage. The maximum recommended specimen height is 20 mm. For work with translucent samples, the stage is equipped with a transparent glass plate.
Focusing is controlled via coaxial coarse and fine focus knobs positioned low on both sides of the microscope. This layout allows the user to rest their hands comfortably on the table instead of holding them in the air. The coarse focusing mechanism includes a lock knob on the right side and a tension adjustment on the left, ensuring stable and controlled focusing.
Accessories and expandability
A wide selection of optional accessories is available for the MAGUS Metal 600 BD. These include long working distance objectives for brightfield and darkfield, additional eyepieces, calibration slides, and digital cameras, allowing the microscope to be configured for specific inspection and research needs.
