FreeFly Movi XL (SKU 950-00071)

The FREEFLY MōVI XL is engineered for professional cinema cameras and lenses and works seamlessly with the Mimic and MōVI Controller systems (not included), as well as select Futaba and Spektrum transmitters. As with traditional sled-style stabilizers, proper camera balancing on the MōVI XL is essential for optimal performance. Once balanced, the unit connects via Wi-Fi to an app on iOS, Android, or Windows devices, allowing final configuration and fine-tuning.

Supported Cameras
The MōVI XL is built to handle payloads up to 50 pounds, making it suitable for a wide range of professional cinema cameras paired with cinema lenses.

Remote Operation
The system can be controlled remotely using a dedicated controller or the Mimic controller (both sold separately). It also supports many Spektrum and Futaba RC transmitters.

App Control
Configuration is available wirelessly through Bluetooth LE using the MōVI XL app on a supported mobile device.

Hot-Swapping Batteries
The MōVI XL supports hot-swapping batteries, allowing power changes without shutting down the system. Care must be taken during the process to avoid personal or equipment damage.

Three Control Modes
Majestic Mode: Designed for single-operator use. The gimbal stabilizes the camera while still allowing intentional operator-driven movements. This mode is especially useful when mounted to vehicles or a jib where one operator manages both movement and framing.

Stabilized Mode: Assumes no operator input and counteracts all detected movement. Ideal when the camera angle must remain fixed, such as when mounted to a vehicle.

Slew Stabilized Mode: For dual-operator setups. A second operator controls pan, tilt, and roll independently using a dedicated remote or RC transmitter.

Freefly Configurator
A user-friendly graphical interface allows precise adjustments to the MōVI XL through Wi-Fi pairing with an iOS or Android device.

Silent Drive
The drive motors are engineered for minimal noise output, helping ensure that on-set audio remains clean and free from unwanted mechanical sound.

Translation Compensation
Advanced software continuously makes hundreds of adjustments per second to reduce vertical translation (the “bobbing” effect), especially useful when tracking fast-moving subjects.

Shot Recorder
This feature logs information such as camera position (via GPS where available), height, pan, tilt, and roll, enabling precise recreation of shots or assisting with VFX alignment during post-production.

Third-Party Mounting
With optional mounting hardware, the MōVI XL can be used on cranes, jibs, and remote heads to support a wide range of rigging workflows.

Remote Firmware Updates
Users can install new firmware and software enhancements directly, without needing to send the unit to Freefly for updates.

Custom Direct Drive Motors
High-torque motors provide smooth performance even when filming on fast-moving platforms.

User Adjustable “Shakey Cam”
Noise filters allow operators to intentionally add controlled shake for an organic handheld-style aesthetic.
