FreeFly Movi XL Optical Gyro Edition with Case (SKU 950-00081)

The FREEFLY MōVI XL is built for professional cinema cameras and lenses and is compatible with the Mimic and MōVI Controller systems (not included), as well as select Futaba and Spektrum transmitters. Similar to sled-style stabilizers, the camera must be properly balanced on the MōVI XL to achieve the best stabilization performance. Once balanced, the system connects over Wi-Fi to an app on iOS, Android, or Windows devices for configuration and fine-tuning.

Supported Cameras
The MōVI XL supports payloads up to 50 pounds, making it suitable for a wide range of professional cinema cameras paired with heavy cinema lenses.

Remote Operation
The gimbal can be operated remotely using a dedicated controller or the Mimic controller (both sold separately). It is also compatible with many Spektrum and Futaba RC transmitters.

App Control
All key settings can be configured wirelessly through Bluetooth LE using the MōVI XL app on a mobile device.

Hot-Swapping Batteries
The system allows hot-swapping of batteries to maintain continuous operation. Extreme caution is required during this process to avoid damage or injury.

Three Control Modes
Majestic Mode: Ideal for single-operator use. The gimbal stabilizes movement while allowing intentional operator-driven pans or tilts. This mode is especially useful when mounted on moving vehicles or operated from a jib by a single crew member.
Stabilized Mode: Takes full control of stabilization, assuming no operator input. It compensates for all motion, making it suitable for vehicle mounts or situations where the camera angle must remain fixed.
Slew Stabilized Mode: Designed for dual-operator setups. A remote operator controls pan, tilt, and roll using a dedicated controller or RC transmitter.

Freefly Configurator
A graphical interface app that allows precise adjustments to gimbal settings over Wi-Fi using an iOS or Android device.

Silent Drive
The custom motors are engineered for extremely quiet operation, helping ensure clean audio capture without mechanical noise interference.

Translation Compensation
Advanced software makes constant micro-adjustments to reduce vertical translation, such as bobbing during running shots, especially when tracking fast-moving subjects.

Shot Recorder
This feature logs GPS-based camera position (where available), height, pan, tilt, and roll. The recorded data can be used to recreate shots or assist VFX teams in aligning camera movement with CG elements.

Third-Party Mounting
With the appropriate mounting hardware (sold separately), the MōVI XL can be installed on cranes, jibs, and remote heads.

Remote Firmware Updates
Firmware upgrades can be applied directly by the user, enabling access to new features without needing to send the gimbal in for service.

Custom Direct Drive Motors
High-torque motors provide smooth, stable operation even when mounted on high-speed moving platforms.

User-Adjustable “Shakey Cam”
Noise filters allow users to intentionally introduce a controlled level of camera shake to create an organic handheld aesthetic.
